Audience Research continued.

E4’s Demographic
Demographic means those aspect of society or culture that are measurable and can be used to put people into categories. For example, religion, income, race, sex, marital status, child status, are all areas that can help put members of a population into smaller groupings.

Demographic means information the media uses to divide their audience into gender, age, race and other categories it also pinpoints potential audience. Every media product is targeted to certain audiences E4 viewers are predominantly young and between the ages 16-24 and dominantly females. They target this demographic because they broadcast good quality drama, comedy, features and having diverse entertainment formats making E4 and E4 +1's both have a very strong impact on 16-34s.This demographic is mindful, sociable, connected, heavy internet users, they love going out and tend to use advertising as one of their many information sources.

E4 have stated that: I learn from this that the ages from under 18 and 18-24 precisely females are the biggest viewers of E4. I understood from this is the type of audience E4 try to attract which is most a niche audience mostly studying at schools, colleges and universities.

They do this by airing programs such as misfits, Youngers, scrubs and even made in Chelsea which relate to that young adult lifestyle in London. This makes this a niche audience because most other channels haven’t really tried to attract this demographic unlike e4. I also understood that E4s main demographic is under 18s.The second biggest targeted demographic would be 18-24. Amongst the chart above we understand that females are the majority of viewers. By looking at this I understand the by demographic for my product will be from around the ages of 18-24 and in particularly females and obviously males too. Also the possibility that the audience of e4 more mature young, adults and adults gives me the idea I don’t need to be very strict on things like my script and my narrative because they aren’t.
